Most homeowners do not realize that dryer vents need to be cleaned
A homeowner will notice that
clothes take longer than usual to dry. They usually think
that their dryer is just getting old. However, most of the
time the problem is that the dryer vent is partially or
completely clogged. How do you know if you need your dryer
vent to be cleaned? Well if your dryer is connected to an
exterior wall, then you probably are not going to have much
of a problem. To check, turn the dryer on and look where the
hose connects to the exterior wall. Go on the roof to where
the dryer vent gooseneck is and feel the exterior dryer vent
. There should be a forceful breeze coming from the vent. If
there isn't, then the hose behind the dryer is probably
kinked or clogged. A homeowner can usually clean this,
however, some may say, "Hey, wait. My dryer isn't connected
to an exterior wall. It goes behind my dryer and vents to
the roof, or who knows where?" Bingo, you now know the dryer
vent needs to be cleaned.
